Every Girl Deserves To Be Called "Lovely" [Mar. 16th, 2007|01:42 pm]

[music |True Colors | Phil Collins]

As most of my family and friends know, I’ve been really busy for the past months eversince I was given new (and supposedly better) duties in the office. Most days, I come home between 10 in the evening till past midnight because of the overwhelming amount of work that I need to do. I haven’t seen any TV show for many weeks now.

So watching ANTM last night was indeed a landmark event for me. Pathetic, no? Haha…

Anyway, I caught Dove’s latest TV ad which I bet has been airing for quite some time now. It’s about women everywhere feeling unhappy or insecure about their physical appearance, and that there is a need to redefine how people perceive beauty. I fell in love with the ad, really. I feel that it speaks to me and to all my “sisters” around the world --- and yes, I agree that women everywhere need to be reminded of how uniquely beautiful each of them are, regardless of their color, race or other physical attributes.

Real beauty, after all, comes from the heart.

"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only when there is light from within." - Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

2006 Mega Young Designers Competition [Nov. 10th, 2006|09:44 pm]

Hi, its been ages since I last posted here, and I had a different account name then. This is cross-posted from my other blog.

Let's keep this community breathing!

Aries Lagat's collection
Aries Lagat's Collection

The 7th Mega Young Designers Competition's concluded last October 10 at Crowne Plaza, Galleria with Aries Lagat as the top winner for his collection "Effortless Traveling". I have to say hands-down, this year's competition with the theme “The Shape of the New Future” shows a lot of promising young Pinoy talents.

My personal favorite was Veejay Floresca's entry which was inspired by the shape of a mother's womb. Unfornatunately I wasn't able to take a good picture of the first excellent piece from his work, the gray pants which is avant-garde yet wearable.

Randall Solomon's fabric was impressive, which I heard was made specifically for this competition, a mix of cotton and nylon fiber. The interweave of natural and synthetic fibre produced a slight hint of sheen.

Congratulations to another semi-finalist, Joanna Allas, the only rose among the brilliant gays in this year's competition. I personally saw her ordeal from pattern making to finding a sewer for her Da Vinci's Virtruvian Man inspired frocks. She is a recent alumni of Fashion Institute of the Philippines and is a chemist by profession.

Robbie Carmona directed the 2006 Mega YDC show. What I fancy about his style is he pays special attention to an essential aspect of a fashion show and that is music. The theme of the collections and accompanying music is well put together, and it doesn't hurt that he mixes his own music.

Aries wins a one year scholarship in Mod'Art in Paris.

Monique Lhuillier [Nov. 8th, 2006|09:35 am]

[music |Placebo - Running Up That Hill]

Her show is Sunday night at Shangri-La, Makati.
Everyone is up and a-buzz about it; the press, the fashion literati...

These are sneak peek shots of all the Blahniks that'll grace that runway, taken by John. :)

And this image is of the models' go-see, as seen on the LJ of Lotho.

From a Genio's Point of View... My dad's been kind of like her escort since she arrived; bringing her around and accompanying her to meetings, television appearances, events, and press gatherings. All that shite... Because the main, Platinum Presentors are the Ayala Group (including Ayala Land Premier, Globe Telecom, Innove, and BPI). Unfortunately, he'll be taking Mom-dearest to the show instead of ME. Sob.
As a matter of fact (don't know when) my dad will be taking Monique Lhuillier to Malacañang to pay a polite visit to the Dwarf Queen herself.

JUST REMINDING YOU THAT THIS COMMUNITY IS STILL ALIVE! JUMPING JELLYFISH! I KNOW SOME OF YOU SPEND TONS OF TIME ON LIVEJOURNAL AND MYSPACE AND WHATNOT! INVEST A BIT OF YOUR TIME IN THIS LITTLE FASHIONATE COMMUNITY!

So...
Stay classy, my friendly fuckers! And keep contributing! ;)
